  • Active member of the Italian Society of Oral Surgery (SICO) from 1994 to 2016 (later renamed SICOI – Italian Society of Oral Surgery and Implantology) in which he was Secretary from 1996 to 2000, President-elect from 2000 to 2002 and President from 2002 to 2004;

  • Active member Italian Society of Odontostomatological Surgery (SIDCO) since 1992;

  • Active member Italian Society of Osseointegrated Implantology (SIO) from 1998 to 2016 of which he was President in 2015-2016;

  • ITI (International Team of Implantology) Fellow since 2001 and President of the Italian ITI section from 2007-2010;

  • Founding Member of IAO (Italian Academy of Osseointegration and Oral Rehabilitation);

  • Active member of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) since 1996;

  • Fellow dell’European Board of Oral Surgery (EBOS) dal settembre 2001;

  • Fellow of the European Board of Oral Surgery (EBOS) since September 2001;

     

     

     

     

Organisation of scientific conferences in Italy

During his presidency of the Italian Society of Oral Surgery (SICO) 2003-2004 he organised and coordinated 2 national congresses and 6 refresher courses.

During his presidency of the Italian Section of ITI (International Theme of Implantology 2007-2010 he organised and coordinated  2 national congresses and 8 refresher courses.

During his Presidency of the Italian Society of Osseointegrated Implantology (SIO) 2015-2016 he organised and coordinated 2 national congresses and 6 refresher courses.

Editorial activities in scientific journals

– Editorial Board Member and Referee of: Clinical Oral Implants Research (ISSN 0905-7161) (first published by Munskgaard and currently by Blackwell Wiley) since 2002;

– Editorial Board Member and Referee of: International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ISSN 0901-5027) (Elsevier publisher) since 2005;

– Editorial Board Member and Referee of: European Journal of Oral Implantology (ISSN 1756-2406) (Quintessence Publishing) from 2009 to 2017;

– Member of the Editorial Board of: Dental Cadmos (ISSN 10011-8524) (Elsevier Publishing) since 2007;

– Member of the Editorial Board of: Minerva Stomatologica (ISSN 1827-174) (Minerva Medica editions – Turin) since 2007;

– From 2002 to 2008 he was Scientific Director of the journal: Implantologia Orale (published by UTET – Turin);

– Referee for the international journal: Journal of Cranio-maxillo-Facial Surgery from 2005 to the present.

Awards for scientific research

– Goldman Price 1997 winner for: ‘best clinical research on implants in patients reconstructed after tumour surgery’, awarded by SiDP (Italian Society of Periodontology);

– Winner EAO Award (European Association for Osseointegration) for ‘best clinical research’, Berlin, May 1998;
– Winner “Best clinical research award” ITI World Symposium, Boston, USA, June 1998 by ITI (International Team of Implantology);

– Winner EAO award (European Association for Osseointegration) for: ‘Best Clinical Research’, Amsterdam, September 2000;

– Winner European Price 2002 ISI (Istituto Stomatologico Italiano) for the best scientific work entitled: “New concepts of oral rehabilitation based on osseointegration” – Milan 11-12 October 2002.
